vs.
Yuukyuuzan Anji

 The
first challenge of Shishio's base was Anji. Sanosuke
had volunteered to go first. The two had met previously
and never had thought to meet up again in such a
situation. Anji had been working under Shishio because
of his extreme hate towards the Meiji Government.
Sanosuke hated the government, of course, but he
couldn't understand why Anji would demote himself
to work for such a man as Shishio. The two Futae
no Kiwami users, Anji being the teacher and Sanosuke
being the student, clashed. Anji had more of an
edge, since he could use the Futae no Kiwami with
basically any part of his body.

Throughout the
entire bout, Sanosuke dodged Anji's blows, waiting
for the right opportunity to strike. Once he hit Anji
with the Futae no Kiwami in his chest, Sanosuke had
thought he won the match, but it was just beginning.
There was a memorial table that defended Anji. Both
struck each other repeatedly with the Futae no Kiwami,
but they never fell down. Anji and Sanosuke neutralized
each blow using the Kiwami Hazushi. When Anji pulled
out his short sword and executed the Touate, Sanosuke
flew back after being hit hard. When Sanosuke got
up, he threw a right, which collided into the right
fist of Anji. |
Both men had
struggled to become the victor, but in the end, neither
had won. When the two Futae no Kiwamis hit, it was
Sanosuke who broke the connection. Anji had seen the
light at last. He had regretted killing the men he
had killed. The ones he had lost because of the Meiji
Government could not be brought back by killing, that's
what Sanosuke was trying to tell him during their
battle. Sanosuke was unofficially declared the winner. |
