Sagara Sanosuke
vs.
Hyottoko

When Kenshin decided to harbor Megumi, who was escaping from Kanryu, at the Kamiya Dojo, Hyottoko, the largest Oniwa Banshu member, busted in later that night. Both Kenshin and Sano were prepared to fight, but Sano wanted it more. Hyottoko threw a punch at the charging Sanosuke. Sano had managed to dodge, however, and hit Hyottoko with a punch of his own, causing the big man to stagger back a few inches. Yet, Hyottoko was barely affected, so he grabbed Sano and doused him with fire. Luckily, Sano managed to escape. Kenshin saw through Hyottoko's trick and called it childish. Outraged at Kenshin's words, Hyottoko directed his attack to the rurouni.

Hyottoko tried to douse Kenshin with fire, like he did to Sano, but Kenshin spun his sword in a circular motion until Hyottoko ran out of oil. By time Hyottoko was done refilling on oil, Sano got up and again charge at Hyottoko. Again, Hyottoko spit out his fire, but that didn't stop Sano as he was going directly through the fire. With his hand down deep in Hyottoko's throat, Sano managed to pull out the oil bag Hyottoko stored that allowed him to use his fire technique. Hyottoko knocked Sano off of his face and thought he could handle the ex-gangster without his special technique. Hyottoko charged for Sano, but only received a foot to the face that knocked him out.
