After Kenshin had just saved him from drowning, Yutarou tried to leave Hana's residence in order to go back to his mansion where Raijuuta and the Shinko Ryu were. Yahiko permitted Yutarou to leave and challenged him to a match, agreeing to let him go if he had beaten him. Yutarou had a sword given to him by Raijuuta, but because of its weight, he was unable to get in any hits. Throughout the entire match, Yahiko basically pummeled Yutarou, slapping him around the field with his shinai. The end result: Yutarou had lost when Yahiko walked away with his complete victory.
