Eiji hails
from Shingetsu Village, one of the many places where Shishio's
reign of terror had taken over. Senkaku was put in charge
of the small, peaceful village. His word was law, and
whoever disobeyed him or tried to escape were punished
severly, usually with death. Eiichiro, Eiji's older brother,
had tried to save his younger brother, but was beaten
to death for trying. Eiji was found in his brother's dying
arms by Kenshin and Misao. All on the young boy's mind
was revenge on Senkaku, the man who killed both his parents
and brother. When Kenshin had defeated Senkaku in battle,
Eiji was about to take vengeance with Eiichiro's sword,
but the rurouni had stopped him to remind him that his
brother's sword was not a weapon for killing, but for
protecting. Since the incident, Eiji was relocated from
his home to be taken care of by Saitou's wife, Tokio,
and was unheard of after that.
