Name:
Hannya
Hair:
None
Eyes:
White
Under that
mask lies a man loyal to Shinomori Aoshi. Hannya was born
in a poor village where children were killed because parents
had little or no money to support them. Somehow, Hannya
had escaped his village and was forced to live like a
wild animal. He had been living all by himself until Aoshi
had found Hannya and offered him a position at the Edo
Castle and in the Oniwa Banshu.
The face of
Hannya is deformed; burnt skin and lips, no pupils, smashed
cheekbones, and cut off ears and nose. All this just to
make his job as a spy easier. Another part that's deformed
is Hannya's arms. They are a bit longer than a normal
person's, so he uses his flaw as a tool in combat. By
wearing stripes on his arms, Hannya is able to make his
opponents think that his arms can extend.
Hannya is
perhaps the only person to acquire much of the kenpo skills
taught by Aoshi. He can combine kenpo with the deadly
metal claws he occassionaly wields. When the Meiji Era
began, the Oniwa Banshu, which was at one time very large,
split up. Hannya was one of the four men to remained loyal
to Aoshi. He had remained loyal to Aoshi from the beginning
to the end when he sacrificed his life to save Aoshi and
allow Kenshin the time needed to defeat Kanryu's gatling
gun.
