At a young
age, Kaoru was already learning her father's skill, Kamiya
Kasshin Ryuu. Kaoru grew up with the philosophy of defending
the weak because of this. When her father died, Kaoru
took upon the task of continuing on the Kamiya Kasshin
Ryuu style as the assistant master.
In Tokyo,
the Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu was popular. Students trained
under Kaoru until the day the name of the school was disgraced
by Hiruma Gohei. Fortunately, a rurouni named Kenshin
came along to save the day and that's when Kaoru's life
finally began to pick up. Because the school had lost
all of its students, she relied on Kenshin to help her
bring back the fame it once had.
For a girl
her age, Kaoru is very bossy and shows it when she beats
up on nearly anyone close to her. To make matters worse,
her cooking is terrible. One thing she treasures most
is Kenshin. Although she cannot declare her true feelings
for him until she completley matures, Kaoru grows jealous
of those who try to take him away from her, namely Megumi.
Even so, Kaoru is strong for a young woman. The only weapon
she wields is a bokken and she's mighty skilled with it.
Kaoru is considered
the one closest to Kenshin. She is the only one that can
hold back Kenshin like a sheath holds a sword. At times,
Kaoru plays the role of the damsel in distress, mainly
because she's good bait for angering Kenshin. When the
time comes where Kaoru and Kenshin finally settle down,
they have a child named Kenji. Kaoru's son looks very
similar to his father, but doesn't like Kenshin that much
for some reason.
