For years,
the family of Nagaoka Mikio had owned the Sanjou family.
However, ownership of another person became illegal in
a way during the Meiji Era. Tsubame had tried to break
off the bonds from the past, but Mikio would not let her
go. It took a little help from Yahiko in order to do so.
It is uknown
whether Tsubame took the job at the Akabeko because she
wanted to or because Mikio had told her to do so. (Since
Mikio did have a plan to rob Tae's place when he would
get a copy of her home key from Tsubame.) Whatever the
case, Tsubame works there and is a popular waitress amongst
everyone because of her sweet personality. Although shy,
Tsubame manages to put up waiting on the rich, poor, and
a freeloader named Sanosuke.
Secretly,
Tsubame has a crush on Yahiko. Although she doesn't show
it up front, it's pretty much assumed by everyone because
of her blushed cheeks around the boy.
