Volume two of Rurouni
Kenshin's DVD run includes four episodes with
many beginnings and endings. The conclusion of
Kenshin's battle with Zanza is featured, as well
as his struggle with the Kurosaga, Udou Jin'e.
And to finish off this second release, Media Blasters
was so kind enough as to pretty much force new
fans of the series to by the next disc, since
the last episode in this volume was the introduction
of the Oniwa Banshu.
There is something
wrong with the quality of the menu. For some reason,
it seems compressed, a little more smashed than
how it did in the series' premiere volume.
One thing that
disappointed me was that this volume's menus contained
no music at all. While navigating through the
main and extra menus, I was left to hear utter
silence, which is a big letdown, since Rurouni
Kenshin features some of the most wonderful scores
of background music for a television series. Another
thing I didn't like was when the DVD started off
by jumping into the first episode after the usual
Media Blasters/Anime Works introduction rather
than leading you to the main menu. When I had
first watched the disc, I was left confused and
frightened. My confusion was due to wondering
why the main menu never appeared and fear because
the English version of "Sobakasu" is
scary in itself.
