Inui accepts Sanosuke's challenge.
After stomping on Maekawa once again, Inui rushes forward
at his new opponent, trampling on the downed bodies in the
process. Sanosuke is prepared, but doesn't expect Inui's
unusual attack. Inui flips forward and smashes Sanosuke's
face with the bottom of his boots. Bursting out of the dojo
they go. Sanosuke has a disadvantage in this fight - he
cannot use the Futae no Kiwami because his hand is more
badly hurt than Kenshin himself. So Sanosuke tries to attack
Inui using only punches. Nothing works against him; Inui
simply blocks all of Sanosuke's moves until he throws him
to the ground.
Sanosuke realizes that to
win this fight, he has to smash the tekkou worn on Inui's
wrists. Inui congratulates Sanosuke for knowing what to
do, but asks if he can do it. Inui brags that his tekkou
is invincible because it's combined with his skills from
the Jushiki Invincible Ryuu, and claims that he will be
the one to kill Battousai since he defeated his school's
master. Sanosuke gets to his feet slowly and asks if that's
the reason why Inui is after Kenshin. Inui tells his opponent
straightforwardly that he's not interested in anything but
victory in a fight. A grin appears on Sanosuke's face. Sanosuke
says Inui is not in Kenshin's league if he's just using
revenge to go berserk. To show Inui a lesson, Sanosuke hits
his opponent's tekkou with a Futae no Kiwami.
Meanwhile, at the Uramura
residence, Chief Uramura is down on his knees at the mercy
of Otowa Hyoko. A gun had somehow exploded in his hand thanks
to Otowa. Behind him are his daughter and wife in tears,
huddled against a wall where a downed, bloody policeman
is. Otowa stabs Uramura's hand, pinning it to the ground,
with a sword. He tells the police chief not to worry, as
his whole family will be joining him in the next world.
At the door appears Kenshin to everyone's relief, excluding
Otowa. Otowa examines Kenshin's cheek and recognizes his
true target immediately.
