A Piercing Question

Gein leaps out of Iwanbou and leaves the scene, reminding Inui that he'd better come along. Inui growls and follows his comrade, threatening Sanosuke that he'll kill him the next time they meet before he completely departs. Sanosuke lets out a loud sigh, but the time for relief is not yet upon him and the others. Smoke is seen coming out of Iwanbou's mouth. Sanosuke runs over to Gein's creation and knees it in the stomach. A large bomb flies out into the air. Immediately, everyone takes cover. When the bomb explodes, the impact is so great that it takes out a large chunk of the Maekawa Dojo.

Elsewhere, Otowa's strange gas has finally disappeared. As Kenshin trudges forward into the Uramura household, the words of Otowa run through his mind - time for Jinchuu. Kenshin finally realizes what's about to happen. He shouts at everyone in the Uramura household to run, but it's too late. In a far off distance, Kujiranami fires his Armstrong cannon at the Uramura residence and completely destroys it. Uramura's daughter and wife, along with the beaten-down policemen, are sent flying out from the impact. Kenshin saves Chief Uramura just in time. As the rurouni lays his friend down on the ground, Uramura's daughter begins to sob. She asks why such things are happening to them when they don't deserve it. Kenshin bows his head, unable to answer such a piercing question.
