Overture to a Death

Enishi admits that he has been behind all of the attacks. For ten years, he has been absent from Japan. His home for that time span was Shanghai, where he survived however he could. In the end, Enishi came out at the top of the Shanghai mafia and controlled an illegal arms manufacturer. Hatred for Battousai, the man that killed his sister, kept Enishi alive through those hard times. All of his comrades weapons were provided by him, as well as Shishio Makoto's Rengoku.

A lavish pistol is drawn by Enishi, who points it playfully at Kenshin. He fires it a couple of times at Kenshin's feet, missing on purpose. Kenshin understands how Enishi feels, but he asks that he not get anyone involved if it's just him that he's after. Enishi doesn't listen to Kenshin; he hates everyone connected with his sister's murderer. Kenshin reminds Enishi that if it's this type of revenge he wants, Tomoe wouldn't want it in such a way. In an angry rage, Enishi hurls his pistol at Kenshin's left eye, blinding him temporarily. Teeth clenched, Enishi snaps at Kenshin, telling him that if he says his sister's name one more time, ten Rengoku battleships will arrive in Tokyo and burn it down.

Once Enishi calms down, he spits out blood. It's about time he departs, but before he goes, he sets a date for his Jinchuu - ten days later at the Kamiya Dojo. Kenshin stops Enishi as he walks away and asks if there's anything he can do to avoid conflict. Enishi turns around. With a psychotic look in his eyes and a wicked smile on his face, Enishi makes it clear that he simply wants Kenshin to suffer.
