As promised, Kenshin
stays home to play with the children. However,
Kenshin finds himself role-playing the Shinsen
Gumi Captain, Kondou Isami, up against Katsura
and Takasugi, played by two of the boys. When
the two boys strike Kenshin with their swords,
really sticks, he easily blocks, but notices that
the girls are all staring at something. Kenshin
follows their eyes and sees Enishi standing on
the path with a emotionless expression on his
face. Soon, everyone outside finds themselves
staring at the young spiky-haired boy. Neither
of the kids know who he is, but one of the boys
goes over to ask if Enishi would like to play
with them. For his kindhearted offer, he receives
a stiff crack to the face. Kenshin runs over to
the scene, but gets his hand bitten by Enishi.
After hearing all of the commotion, Tomoe steps
outside. Enishi's face lights up at the sight
of his sister, ending all of the chaos.
Inside the farm
house, Tomoe introduces Kenshin to Enishi, her
younger brother. Assuming that they would like
to have some privacy, Kenshin heads back outside.
The only thing on his mind is the question of
how Enishi found his sister's exact location.
It was a surprise
for Tomoe to see Enishi. After hugging him, she
goes back to cooking supper. Tomoe asks Enishi
about their father and how he tracked her down.
Enishi replies that he left for Kyoto a year after
she did. How he found Tomoe, he won't tell. All
Enishi says is he has connections. What more,
he asks that his beloved sister cheer up because
it will soon be time for Battousai to receive
punishment from the heavens. After hearing that,
Tomoe drops the spoon she was stirring with in
shock.
Thinking back,
Tomoe remembers having a meeting with Tatsumi
and the others. Tatsumi had told her he'd send
a messenger to let her know when it was the right
time to eliminate Battousai. Not in her wildest
dreams did she imagine that the messenger would
be her own brother.
Enishi extends
his hand towards his sister, saying it's time
they head back home together. Tomoe remains silent.
When she speaks, she asks her younger brother
to leave. Outraged, Enishi begins to snap at his
sister. He has no idea why she would defend the
man that took away her happiness.
The sun begins
to set. After seeing off all of the children,
Kenshin heads back to the farm house and meets
up with Enishi on the path. Teeth clenched, Enishi
gives an angry glare at Kenshin. His words before
running off express his wishing that Kenshin had
never been "there". A bit confused,
Kenshin enters the house and asks his wife where
her brother is headed off to. Without a word spoken,
Tomoe slams her diary shut with violent force,
startling even Kenshin. Tomoe looks a bit shocked
herself, but once she realizes that it was Kenshin
talking to her, she answers him, saying Enishi
went back to Edo.
Out of the blue,
Tomoe questions Kenshin if he ever wonders about
her past. Tomoe doesn't speak too much about her
background and admits that she never thought about
telling Kenshin, but, for once, she thinks it's
a good time to let someone know.
