A new day has dawned
upon Tokyo. With nine days remaining until the battle
at the Kamiya Dojo, Enishi meets up with Gein in the
front hallway of their mansion hideout. Gein had left
early in the morning, equipped with digging tools,
to get more "material". In a bucket he holds,
strands of human hair are visible. Enishi likes Gein's
attitude, but reminds him that their Jinchuu will
not take place until a few more days. What Enishi
wants the killer of his sister to do is suffer, slowly.
Kenshin throws a bucket
of water on his head. He has remained rather quiet
after telling his story the night before. It's about
lunchtime. Kaoru approaches Kenshin with a smile on
her face, asking him to join herself and the others
in the dojo. Kenshin declines the offer to eat, but
Megumi, just around the corner, carrying trays with
Tsubame, insists that Kenshin eat or else he'll grow
weak. Yahiko finishes five thousand arm crosses. Even
though he has completed half of the task Kaoru asked
him to do, the assistant master of the Kamiya Kasshin
Ryuu orders her best student to do seven thousand
more. Yahiko screams in anger and disbelief. Meanwhile,
Sanosuke, who is sleeping, is woken up by Megumi when
she pours some miso soup made by Kaoru down his throat.
The usual fuss. Kenshin
sits in the dojo and eats with his friends. While
Yahiko stuffs his face with endless bowls of rice,
Kenshin comes to the conclusion that he mustn't worry
about the past, since he cannot change what has happened.
A smile once again comes to his face when he asks
for another bowl of rice from Kaoru.
After a satisfying
meal, Tsubame brings up her concern for the approaching
battle. Megumi figures that there's no way to stop
Enishi, other than if his sister had changed his mind.
Hearing that, Kaoru remembers Tomoe's diary. Kaoru
quickly asks Kenshin where Tomoe's diary is. Kenshin
answers that he entrusted it to a temple in Kyoto
where Tomoe was buried. If the diary is obtained,
perhaps Enishi's mind could be changed. A letter is
sent to Kyoto immediately.
At the Aoiya, Misao
tries to crack a smile on Aoshi's face but has no
luck. Okina walks in and delivers the letter from
Kaoru in Tokyo to Misao. Misao opens it up and reads
it carefully. Once finished, Misao agrees to find
the diary. Okina asks Aoshi if he could accompany
Misao to Tokyo when the diary is found, and perhaps
help Kenshin out if a combat takes place at the Kamiya
Dojo. Aoshi knows both Misao and Kenshin will be fine,
but he figures that it's the best time to fulfill
his promise to drink tea with the rurouni. Thus, Misao
and Aoshi set off together as a ray of hope to prevent
a battle before it erupts.
