Kenshin asks Yatsume why
he is using his talents and skills for fighting purposes.
Since gold has been running low in Japan, Yatsume decided
that he use his body for combat simply because it had the
potential. Yatsume blames Battousai and the Ishin Shishi
for the misfortune of his clan, which is slowly fading away.
Saitou walks onto the scene from behind and asks that Kenshin
move aside. Unlike Sanosuke, Kenshin isn't surprised to
see his face.
Saitou had been told what
has been going on in summary by Megumi. Although he did
not agree to fight along Kenshin's side when asked by the
foxy doctor because of his sense of justice, it looks as
though he will be doing so anyway. What Saitou had come
for was to investigate the man that hold sold Shishio Makoto
the Rengoku, Yukishiro Enishi. He says Japan cannot be open
so freely to the exchange of illegal weapons, thus making
Enishi a danger to the country. Since Enishi won't come
down until all of his comrades are defeated, Saitou plans
on defeating Yatsume, the final roadblock, whom he refers
to as a monster.
Angered at Saitou for insulting
his refined body, Yatsume leaps off of the Kamiya Dojo's
roof and slams his claw onto the ground, creating a lengthy
ditch-like burrow. As the dust settles, it is seen that
Saitou had simply evaded the attack. Yatsume begins bragging
about his show of power, but Saitou asks him if his teeth
and tongue are refined. Mumyoui confirms that his teeth
are refined, but his tongue isn't. Saitou scoffs, saying
that Yatsume is a monster because of his freakish tongue.
Yatsume growls with anger, promising to kill Saitou. The
former Shinsen Gumi captain draws his sword, thinking out
loud that Yatsume is getting ahead of himself.
