Oibore - Man of Unknown Origin

Yahiko and Misao enter the Rakuninmura and immediately find themselves getting into a fight with the locals. The two deal with anyone who gets in their way, until they are piled on by a whole bunch of residents, a "technique" called Tenraku Jinsei. Out of the blue, a scruffy old man appears to break up the conflict. Oibore is what he is referred to as, and he gives a present of cigarette butts to the men. Yahiko and Misao are let free from the pile and have their presence questioned by Oibore, the nicest guy in the Rakuninmura. The kids explain what business they have, then walk away to find Kenshin.

Megumi finishes telling Aoshi everything she knows. That something still makes no sense to Aoshi. He asks Megumi if there is any evidence from the fight still around that hasn't been taken into investigation by the police. Megumi thinks, then remembers the Iwanbou model Sanosuke had claimed prize for. Aoshi asks to see it, so the two set off together to the Kamiya Dojo, where Gein's creation lies in the dojo's storage room.

Kenshin finds himself in Hell again. Shishio approaches the rurouni with a smile on his face. He has come to laugh at the man that had defeated him, but Kenshin doesn't care what his successor has to say. Instead, Kenshin asks for Shishio to take him away, seeing that his life is completely meaningless. Shishio agrees to do so, but under one condition. What Shishio wants is for Kenshin to regret his sword, his beliefs, his life - his everything.

Misao breaks Kenshin's depressing thoughts by calling out his name. Kenshin comes back to his senses, but is still in the same position as he was the day before. It sickens Misao to see her friend in such condition. Yahiko kneels down so his eyes meet with Kenshin's. With a straight face, he tells Kenshin that he will do his best to avenge the death of Kaoru. Although he's unsure of what'll happen after that, Yahiko promises to grow strong by fighting with the Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu style and the same beliefs that Kenshin once upheld. He stands up and turns around. As he begins to exit the Rakuninmura for the last time, Yahiko turns his head and smiles at the rurouni, saying he'll be waiting for his return at the dojo.

On the way back to the Kamiya Dojo, Yahiko is forced to listen to Misao's complaining about the environment of Kenshin's new home, but he and the complainer overhear Megumi shouting in disbelief about something inside. The two quickly make their way over to the scene and are hit with the news - Aoshi wants to open Kaoru's grave when night falls.
