Oibore returns to the Rakuninmura
with a present, a small bottle filled with white plum. Everyone
thinks the scent stinks when the bottle is uncapped, especially
Kenshin. The scent of white plums reminds Oibore of the
past, and since it is said to be able to soothe a person's
heart, he places it next to the fallen rurouni.
Yahiko visits the Akabeko
in its new temporary location and asks Tae if he can borrow
Tsubame for a bit. Tsubame was going to go on an errand,
so she willingly lets her go from work, which isn't very
busy. In the semi-crowded streets of Tokyo, Tsubame walks
by Yahiko's side with a very sad look upon her face. As
Yahiko wonders if he should tell her the truth about Kaoru's
death, Tsubame commends him for being such a strong person
in such hard times. She begins tearing when she remembers
Yahiko saying that everything would be fine before the battle
at the Kamiya Dojo. Yahiko comforts her by placing his hand
on her head, promising that everything will work out in
the end.
At the police station where
Kujiranami is being held, the guards of the prison cells
converse. One brings up their Lieutenant Fujita, saying
he's heard rumors that the lieutenant is actually one of
the few living Shisen Gumi members alive that can stand
toe-to-toe with the legendary Hitokiri Battousai. With the
mentioning of Battousai's name, Kujiranami's anger peaks.
The one-armed man breaks out of his cell and runs amok through
police station, eventually finding his way to a new toy.
Armed with an automatic custom grenade launcher, Kujiranami
demolishes the entire building and sets off for town with
one thing on his mind - Battousai.
