The Kuzu
Ryu Sen had knocked Kujiranami off of his
feet, but the one-armed man gets up immediately
and fires at Kenshin. The rurouni completely
avoids the shot by speeding right underneath
the ammunition. He quickly ends the madness
by cutting off the custom grenade launcher
with a Ryu Shou Sen.
The remembrance
of losing his right arm causes the look
in Kujiranami's eyes to change. In a no
longer insane tone of voice, he asks Kenshin
to finish him off. When they had met for
the first time, Kenshin had denied Kujiranami's
honor in death, and he does it again once
again in the present. The one-armed man
doesn't take the rurouni's response lightly.
He threatens to use up all of his ammunition
and kill everyone around the area if he
cannot die. Just then, Yahiko rises to his
feet with something to say. The battered
boy won't let Kujiranami kill innocent people.
He raises a good question, asking the one-armed
man what good all of his anger towards Battousai
did him. Yahiko demands that Kujiranami
forget the past and think about helping
the present like Kenshin is doing. If he
won't try, Yahiko will challenge the one-armed
man with only his left arm. To show that
he's serious, Yahiko injures his right arm
with the butt of his shinai.
Kujiranami
looks at Yahiko and asks his name. In response,
Yahiko proudly introduces himself. Without
another word said, Kujiranami walks away.
Megumi, Misao, and Shinichi rush over to
the brave boy to tend to his wounds, while
the one-armed man passes by the rurouni.
Moved by Yahiko's spirit, he apologizes
to Kenshin, admitting defeat, coming to
accept the facts that all along, he had
been walking on the wrong path. Kenshin
gladly accepts Kujiranami's apology, simply
telling him to live in the new era. Tears
in his eyes, Kujiranami thanks Kenshin for
his kindness once again and then turns himself
in to Saitou.
