Enishi tells Kenshin
to rise to his feet so they can conclude their
battle. Before Kenshin stands, Yahiko gets in
Enishi's face and demands to know where Kaoru
is. The boy threatens to kill Enishi if he tells
him that she's dead. Sanosuke intervenes to remind
Yahiko that he is a student of the Kamiya Kasshin
Ryuu, the sword that protects, not kill. So in
his place, Sanosuke says he'll do the killing
instead.
Before any killing
commences, Kaoru stumbles out of the forest, short
of breath, bringing a sigh of relief to everyone.
Enishi stands in her way, however, blocking her
from going over to the other side. He looks at
Kenshin and tells him that he'll let Kaoru free
only if he manages to defeat him. If Kaoru is
so foolish as to try and run away, she will be
killed.
Kenshin has no
choice; he finally gets to his feet and starts
approaching Enishi, but not before thanking everyone
for lending him their strength first. When Kenshin
steps onto the battlefield, Enishi tells him his
plans of sending the man who killed his sister
to hell, this time, literally, as it is his sister's
wish. Kenshin answers back to his brother-in-law,
saying that if Tomoe wanted him to die, she would
have let him fifteen years ago.
