About Beck Monglian Chop Squad

Judging from the top image, you might be thinking, "How in the world can a series about music be good on paper?" That's initially what I thought when I first heard of Beck, but it works quite well as you can see in the anime/manga review. Beck is about a young boy named Koyuki and his adventure to be the next big thing in the rock music world. Koyuki joins the band "Beck," which is also named "Mongolian Chop Squad" overseas, and he embarks on going from a garage band to touring with some of the biggest bands out there. The series gives tons of rock references and me, being a big rock fan, enjoyed each and every one of them. The characters in Beck truly shine and make the series a definite must-see.

Support Official Release

One of my biggest gripes about Beck is the anime counterpart. Sure it got a high score but that's only because it had great material to work from. The truth is, in my opinion, Beck the anime series could have a lot better. This is one reason I am hosting the manga. It is much more entertaining than the anime in my opinion. The humor and the pacing of the story is better in the manga; I felt the anime series dragged on a bit and only got entertaining towards the end of the series. By then of course it was too late, the anime was over. Thankfully the manga series spans double, probably going on triple, what the anime series had to show us.

The English release, licensed by Viz Media, does a great job of translating and retaining all of what was good in the original Japanese release so be sure to check it out if you enjoy this series. You'll notice that I host less volumes of Beck than I do over other series; this has to do with the fact that the English release is still going through its motions so I want to encourage people to go out and support it!
